Voters get an email when this status changes.
When a customer starts paying a deposit and leaves before finishing, the checkout used to stay open as a draft order in your admin. Open deposit drafts older than 24 hours are now deleted automatically each day, so abandoned checkouts no longer pile up in your Draft orders list.
