How to sell consultations and virtual appointments on Shopify
A consultation is a one-on-one appointment, so it needs a booking calendar on the product page. With a booking app, the customer picks a time from your real availability, pays at Shopify checkout or books for free, and gets a confirmation email. For online calls, the app can make a Zoom or Google Meet link for each booking and put it in the email and the calendar invite.

Your options
A paid consultation
- Best for
- Styling, design, nutrition, and other expert advice you charge for.
- Limits
- Customers pay before they meet you, so state the cancellation rules up front.
A free consultation
- Best for
- Bridal fittings, custom orders, and high-value sales where the meeting closes the sale.
- Limits
- With no payment, there is no Shopify order. Reminders matter more, because a free booking is easy to forget.
A paid consultation credited to the order
- Best for
- Custom work, where the fee comes off the final price.
- Limits
- Give the customer a discount code for the amount after the call. The app does not do this for you.
Set up a consultation with Easy Appointment Booking
- 1
Create the service
Click New Event or Service. Choose Paid service, or Free booking for a call you do not charge for. Choose One-on-one and a length, such as 30 minutes.
- 2
Set your hours and lead time
Pick the hours you take calls, and a lead time, such as 4 hours, so nobody books a call that starts in ten minutes.
- 3
Add the meeting link
Connect Zoom under Settings, then Calendar sync. On the service, under Location, click Zoom. Each booking gets its own meeting link. Google Meet works the same way.
- 4
Ask what the call is about
Add intake questions, such as What would you like to discuss? The answers show in the booking and in your calendar event.
- 5
Sync your calendar
Connect Google Calendar so your other meetings block those times on your store.
Free and paid consultations work on every plan. Zoom and Google Meet links and Google Calendar sync start on Pro ($29/month).
Turn more calls into sales
Put the booking where the decision is
Add a Book now button or a booking calendar to your home page or a collection page, not only to the service product.
Follow up after the call
A follow-up email after the appointment can link back to the products you talked about.
Let customers pick who they talk to
Connect several team members to one service. Customers choose a person, or the app picks whoever is free.
For Teams or another tool
Choose Custom Link under Location and paste one link that every customer uses.
Common questions
Can I offer free consultations?
Yes. Choose Free booking when you create the service. Customers book with their name and email, with no cart and no checkout.
Does every customer get their own Zoom link?
Every booked time gets its own meeting. Customers booked into the same time share it, which is what you want for a group call.
Does the Zoom meeting get deleted if the customer cancels?
No. The customer gets a cancellation email, but the meeting stays in Zoom. Delete it there if you need to.
Can customers in other time zones book?
Yes. Under Timezone display on the service's Advanced tab, you choose whether times show in each customer's own time zone or in one fixed time zone.
