Booking for photographers on Shopify
If you sell prints or presets on Shopify, you can sell your sessions there too. Clients pick a date and time on the session page, pay a deposit or the full fee at checkout, and answer your questions about the shoot. The booking lands in Shopify as an order, next to the print order that follows it.

What you need from booking
Sessions of different lengths
A 20-minute mini session and a 2-hour family shoot need different calendars. One product with a variant per session type keeps them on one page.
Mini-session days
Fall and holiday minis run on a few chosen dates, back to back, with a short gap to reset the set.
A deposit that holds the date
Wedding and event clients book months ahead. A deposit stops a date being held by someone who never shows.
The details before the shoot
Location, number of people, and the look they want. You need it before the day, not on it.
An example setup
Three services that show how the pieces fit. Change the names, lengths, and prices to your own.
| Service | Length | Capacity | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini session | 20 min | 1 family | $150, paid in full |
| Family session | 90 min | 1 family | $450, 30% deposit |
| Studio rental | 1 hour | 1 booking | $60 per hour |
Mini sessions use On a few specific days with 10 minutes of buffer time. The family session takes a deposit and asks for the location. Studio rental is a separate schedule for the room, so a shoot and a rental can never overlap.

Before you set it up
- Weddings that run over two days need a booking for each day. A booking is one start time on one day.
- Set a lead time, such as 48 hours, so nobody books a shoot you cannot prepare for.
- Turn off Track quantity on a session product you made yourself, or it can show Sold out.
Common questions
Can I charge one price for a family, however many people come?
Yes. Turn on Fixed Price Booking and the session costs one price, whether two or six people come. It works on every plan.
Can clients book a mini session and buy prints in one checkout?
Yes. The session goes into the cart like any product, so a client can add a print credit or an album before they pay.
Can I travel to the client?
Yes. Add a Text intake question for the address, and use buffer time to cover travel between shoots.
