Different Calendars by Product Variant

Product variants can control which calendar, team member, duration, or add-on a customer is booking. For example, you can let a customer choose a coach first and then show that coach's schedule.
Set up a variant-based event
- In Shopify Admin, open the product you want to use and add an option with variants — for example, Instructor, Duration, or Service type.
- In Easy Appointment Booking, create a new event.
- Select the Shopify product. Its variants appear in the event setup.
- Select the variants that should be bookable through this event.
- Save the event and test it on the product page.
Selected variants show the Select a Time button and the event's booking details. Variants that are not selected continue to use Shopify's normal Add to Cart flow.
Give each variant a different schedule
If each variant needs its own calendar, create one event per variant using the same Shopify product:
- Create an availability for each instructor, room, or schedule.
- Create an event for the first variant and select only that variant.
- Assign the matching availability to the event.
- Repeat for each other variant.
For example, create one event for the Coach A variant with Coach A's availability, then another event for Coach B with Coach B's availability. When a customer switches variants, the calendar shows the schedule for the selected coach.
Make sure each team member's availability has the correct email address. That address receives booking notifications for appointments assigned to that availability.
Offer different durations
To let customers choose a duration from one product page:
- Create a Shopify variant for each duration, such as 30 minutes and 60 minutes.
- Create an event for each duration and connect it to the matching variant.
- Set the duration on each event and assign the appropriate availability.
Duration variants work best for private bookings with one attendee. For group bookings with different prices per guest, use Multiple Ticket Types instead.
Add the variant name to emails
The selected variant is available in booking details. To show it in a custom email template, add the {{variant_title}} variable where you want the variant name to appear.
If the calendar does not change when a customer switches variants
Some themes do not update the product URL when a customer changes variants. Easy Appointment Booking uses that URL change to detect the selected variant. If the wrong calendar remains visible, contact support so the team can add a small refresh script for the product page.
