Easy Appointment Booking uses three timezones. If times on your calendar look wrong, one of them is usually not the one you expect.
| Timezone | Where you set it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Store timezone | Shopify admin | The start value for new availabilities and services |
| Availability timezone | Availabilities > Set schedule | The timezone of your open hours |
| Service timezone | Service > Advanced tab > Calendar Timezone | The timezone customers see times in |
Store timezone
The app reads your store timezone from Shopify. You cannot change it in the app.
To change it, go to your Shopify admin and click Settings > General, then change the timezone there.
The store timezone is only a start value. When you create your first service, the app gives its availability the store timezone. Changing the store timezone later does not change services or availabilities that you already have.
Availability timezone
Each availability has its own timezone. The app reads its weekly hours in that timezone. For example, 9:00 to 17:00 in Europe/London means 9:00 to 17:00 London time.
- Click Availabilities in the app menu.
- Next to the availability, click Set schedule.
- In Weekly schedule, choose the timezone in View in Timezone.
- Click Save changes.
A new availability starts with the timezone of the computer you use to create it. If you created it while you traveled, check it.
Service timezone
Each service has a Calendar Timezone setting. It controls the timezone customers see times in.
- On the Dashboard, click Edit on the service.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- In Display Settings, under Calendar Timezone, choose one:
- Show timeslots in customer's local timezone: each customer sees times in the timezone of their own device.
- Show timeslots in a specific timezone: all customers see times in the timezone you choose.
- If you chose a specific timezone, choose it in View in Timezone.
- Click Save in the bar at the top of the page.
When you choose Show timeslots in a specific timezone, the app first fills in the timezone of the computer you use. Check that it is your business timezone.
For in-person services, choose Show timeslots in a specific timezone and pick your business timezone. A customer in another country then sees the local time of your shop, not their own time.
The daily booking limit needs a specific timezone. See Group bookings and party sizes.
Example
Your shop is in Toronto. Your availability is America/Toronto, open 9:00 to 17:00.
- With Show timeslots in a specific timezone set to America/Toronto, every customer sees 9:00 to 17:00.
- With Show timeslots in customer's local timezone, a customer in Vancouver sees 6:00 to 14:00. The appointment time is the same. Only the label changes.
Emails and calendar invites
Booking emails show the time in the timezone of the booking: the service timezone, or the customer's timezone if the service uses Show timeslots in customer's local timezone. The {{timezone}} variable shows its name.
Times are wrong
- Open each availability that the service uses. Check its timezone.
- Open the service, click Advanced, and check Calendar Timezone.
- Bookings made before you fix a timezone keep their old time. Move them if you need to. See Change, move, or cancel a booking.
On the Bookings page, View in Timezone changes only how you see times there. It does not change your services.
