A variable is a word in double curly brackets, such as {{first_name}}. When the app sends the message, it replaces the variable with the real value for that booking.

Examples
- Email subject:
Your {{event_name}} on {{start_date}} at {{start_time}} - Email subject for your team:
New booking: {{first_name}} {{last_name}}, {{customer_phone}} - Text message:
Hi {{first_name}}, see you on {{start_date}} at {{start_time}}. {{shop_name}}
Variables in the Email Designer
The Email Designer's Content Block uses a short list with single curly brackets:
| Token | Becomes |
|---|---|
{first_name} | The customer's first name. Shows "there" if it is blank |
{last_name} | The customer's last name |
{email} | The customer's email address |
{phone} | The customer's phone number |
Other variables, such as {{start_date}}, do not work in the Content Block. The booking date, time, service, and location already show in every email. See Change the look of your booking emails.
Waitlist and Klaviyo emails
- The waitlist emails do not use these variables. See Let customers join a waitlist.
- Klaviyo uses its own variables. See Build your own Klaviyo flows.
