The Check in tile in Shopify POS shows today's bookings, so front-desk staff can check customers in as they arrive. To add the tile, see Take bookings with Shopify POS.

Check a customer in

  1. In Shopify POS, tap Check in. The Check in & search bookings screen shows today's bookings, grouped by time.
  2. Find the customer. Search by name or booking ID, or scan their QR code (see below).
  3. Tap the booking, then tap Check in.

The booking gets a green Checked in label, here and in the app. To undo it, open the booking and tap Undo check-in.

Tips:

  • Turn on Hide checked-in bookings to see only the people still to come.
  • The booking shows the customer's answers to your intake questions, such as allergies or a waiver. A signature shows as Signed.
  • If two staff use the same register, a check-in shows on the list within a second, so nobody checks the same person in twice.
  • If the register loses its connection, the screen says so and tries again every minute.

Check in with a QR code

This needs the Ultimate plan, and it is in beta.

  1. In the app, go to Settings > Shopify automations.
  2. Under Shopify Point of Sale, check QR code check-in.
  3. Click Save.

Confirmation and reminder emails now include a QR code. At the counter, tap Scan QR and scan the customer's code with the camera or a barcode scanner. Their booking opens, ready to check in.

Show only this location's bookings

If you have several locations, each register can show only its own location's bookings. Staff can still tap Show all locations.

This needs the Ultimate plan. The location must exist in both the app and Shopify.

  1. In the app, go to Settings > Locations.
  2. Find the location.
  3. Click Link a POS location and choose the matching Shopify location.
  4. Repeat for each location.

If you see Update the app to link POS locations, click it and approve the new permission, then come back. To change a link, click Change. To remove it, click Unlink.

Registers pick up the change within about a minute. Services with no location still show everywhere.

For more on check-ins, no-shows, and what they can trigger, see Check in customers and mark no-shows.
